Série Icônes ordinaires, monogravures, exposition Bouge pour voir, Galerie Duchamp, 2016 Monogravures 40 x 50 cm Gravures uniques réalisées à la pointe sèche sur des cartons d’emballage (boîtes de soins corporels, d’aliments, etc.), les « Icônes ordinaires » envisagent de donner une seconde vie à ces rebuts de tous les jours : le quotidien, la banalité sont revisités, éclairés différemment par la couleur, l’estampe. La matrice (boîte d’emballage ouverte et déployée) donne à chaque fois une architecture nouvelle par sa découpe originale. Elle est utilisée pour des surimpressions de couleurs jusqu’à épuisement, et sa fragilité ne rend possible qu’un tirage unique. Monoprint, print on paper 40 x 50 cm I collect and gather food, beauty, medication, and toy packaging, which I open and flatten in order to engrave them using a traditional method. My raw material comes from my surrounding: I collect packaging and I translate it through print. The result is quite remote from the original, giving it some sort of second life. My matrices are fragile and short-lived. The “extra-ordinary” prints of those ordinary coverings give birth to small architectures, laid-out clothes like kimonos, spread- out bodies. When engraving I play with the “micro literature” that creeps in (instructions for use, practical advice, and existential recommendations, stereotypes to put into action), graphic art, and typography belonging to the packaging. I enhance certain parts while others end up hidden; I subtly integrate drawings which overlap the original art or create random extensions.
